Veterinarians worldwide now have access to the latest Consensus Guidelines created by a panel of leading feline experts. These guidelines focus on the recognition and resolution of intercat tension in multiple cat households. The 2024 AAFP Intercat Tension Guidelines are designed to help practitioners understand the social behavior between cats, specifically in recognizing intercat tension, preventing or minimizing its occurrence, and managing the associated stress. In creating the guidelines, the Task Force has adapted the five pillars of a healthy feline environment to provide a framework to assist in preventing or managing intercat tension in households with two or more cats.
