EveryCat Health Foundation and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) are pleased to announce two $2500 scholarships for third- or fourth-year veterinary students enrolled in accredited veterinary colleges or schools in the United States or Canada. The scholarships were created to support and encourage students who show exceptional effort and dedication in elevating feline care and are awarded based upon academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and excellence in the study of feline medicine.
“For six years, our organizations have offered $2500 scholarships to veterinary students with an interest in feline medicine or clinical scientific research,” said Jackie Jaakola, Executive Director, EveryCat Health Foundation. “We are thrilled to partner with the AAFP again to provide these two scholarships to future veterinarians.”
To apply, students will need to submit a short application form, which is conveniently available on both EveryCat Health Foundation and AAFP websites. Students will also be required to answer two essay questions that describe their specific interests and background in feline health and welfare, as well as their goals in pursuing feline medicine. The scholarship applications will be reviewed, selected, and approved by EveryCat Health Foundation and the AAFP.
The applications and supplementary documents must be received no later than March 19, 2022. The two winning recipients will be notified of their award on or before April 25, 2022.
“We recognize the important role veterinary students play in elevating feline medicine,” added Heather O’Steen, CEO, the AAFP. “It is vitally important to provide our future feline veterinarians with the resources and support needed to improve the veterinary experience for cat caregivers and veterinary staff alike.”
Students are encouraged to take advantage of additional resources the AAFP has on its website including the Toolkit for Veterinary Students which is an intuitive resource map that outlines many of the AAFP’s key publications and supplemental materials. EveryCat Health Foundation also has a number of educational resources available on their website and information regarding research grant awards.
The applications and instructions are available on the EveryCat Health Foundation and AAFP websites.
