I’m a student and I’d like to start a FelineVMA Student Chapter at my school. What should I do?
If your school is interested in starting a FelineVMA Student Chapter, the first step is for you to identify a member of the faculty who will serve as your Chapter’s Faculty Advisor. Have this person contact the FelineVMA for additional information and to receive instructions about the next steps.
Once the Faculty Advisor has signed up for their free FelineVMA Membership, you will identify your Student Chapter Officers and share their contact information with the FelineVMA to ensure that they receive all Chapter-related correspondence. The Student Chapter Officers will be responsible for ensuring that all students in the Chapter sign up for their free Student Chapter Membership.
Can any school form a Student Chapter?
Any veterinary school or veterinary technician school may start an official FelineVMA Student Chapter.
How do I know if my school already has a Student Chapter?
The full list of current FelineVMA Student Chapters can be found on the right-hand side of the Students page under “Official FelineVMA Student Chapters.”
My school already has a Feline Club. Can we become a FelineVMA Student Chapter?
Yes! Simply have your Faculty Advisor contact the FelineVMA and we will send them all the information needed for your Feline Club to become a FelineVMA Student Chapter.
What do I do if I want to join, but my school does not have a Faculty Advisor and/or we are unable to start a Student Chapter?
Not a problem! You can join as an Independent Chapter. Here’s how:
- If you don’t already have a free FelineVMA Account, follow the steps outlined here to create one. You might have a FelineVMA Account if you’ve attended a webinar or a Conference in the past.
- Next, go to the Membership menu, select “join or renew,” then choose either Veterinarian Student Member or Veterinary Technician Student Member. Please select Independent Chapter from the dropdown list of schools and add the name of your school in the required field.

The first step in forming a FelineVMA Student Chapter at your school is to identify a Faculty Advisor. Signing up for a Student Chapter Membership is a two-step process:

- Next, go to the Membership menu, select “join or renew,” then choose either Veterinarian Student Member or Veterinary Technician Student Member. Please select your school from the dropdown list of schools. Your membership will be valid until you graduate.
I am currently pursuing a post graduate degree. Can I sign up for a Student Chapter Membership?
Only veterinary students working toward their DVM are eligible for a Student Chapter Membership. However, you may qualify for a discounted membership if you are a Recent Graduate, Intern, or Resident. You can review all the membership types here.
I heard the Cat Friendly Certificate Program is free for students, but it still asking me to pay.
Yes, the Cat Friendly Certificate Program is free to Student Chapter Members. To access it, start by signing up for your free Student Chapter Membership using this two-step process:
- If you don’t already have a free FelineVMA Account, follow the steps outlined here to create one. You might have a FelineVMA Account if you’ve attended a webinar or a Conference in the past. This is a one-time process.

Please select your school from the dropdown list of schools – or Independent Chapter if your school is not likely to form a Student Chapter. Your membership will be valid until you graduate.

Yes, if your school has a FelineVMA Student Chapter you qualify for complimentary access to the Cat Friendly Certificate Program. Please email us to students@catvets.com to obtain your access code.

To start/continue with the Cat Friendly Certificate Program, log into your account in the eLearning Center, and scroll down to “My Activity.”
