Implementing the FelineVMA Dental Care Guidelines: Focusing on Practical Aspects to Use

Live – Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 6:30 pm ET

Oral and dental diseases are commonplace in cats, imposing a responsibility on the veterinary team to provide high quality oral health care. This seminar will guide the attendee through the new 2025 FelineVMA feline oral health and dental care guidelines, including guiding caregivers to be active participants in their cats’ oral and dental healthcare through cooperative care training and spectrum of care considerations. We will review common feline oral and dental diseases and practical approaches to the awake and unconscious oral and dental examinations as well as tips and tricks for dental care and surgery under anesthesia.

Learning Objectives

After attending this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the importance of the caregiver as a participant in their cat’s oral and dental health care, identifying ways to guide them in this participation and ensuring they receive a consistent supportive message from the veterinary team.
  • Review the most common feline oral and dental diseases including pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment
  • Evaluate oral and dental health in both the awake patient and the anesthetized patient to develop a comprehensive care and treatment plan
  • Outline a planned protocol for feline dental care under anesthesia to facilitate diagnosis of specific conditions and development of targeted treatment plans.
