A Few, Fun Tidbits About Minneapolis

  • Minneapolis is the hometown of one of the most beloved cartoons ever. Charles M. Schulz, creator of “Peanuts” and Snoopy, was born here!
  • The phrase “holy cow!” was coined in Minneapolis when a sports announcer used the phrase for the first time when reporting on a home run.
  • The Mall of America is larger than 78 football fields.
  • Former Vice President Theodore Roosevelt gave his now-famous “Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick” speech at the 1901 Minnesota State Fair.
  • Scotch tape, the bundt pan, rollerblades, Milky Way candy bars, and the world’s first practical pair of water skis were all invented in Minnesota.

The AAFP has arranged for airfare discounts through United and Delta. The AAFP does not endorse utilizing these platforms or businesses, nor have any relationship with these airlines. At the time of the meeting, these were the only airlines that offered conference discounts and as a courtesy to our attendees, the AAFP has arranged for a discount code. The discount will vary based on itinerary, location, operator, and fare. Please contact the AAFP Conference Team for the discount code for both airlines.

  • The MCC has partnered with four City of Minneapolis parking ramps to increase attendee convenience. All ramps are connected through the skyway system and are located within two blocks of the MCC.
