A Roadmap for Respiratory Disease: Keys to Localizing Disease Site for Optimal Management

Feline respiratory disease can result in a constellation of clinical signs that impact quality and quantity of life. This session will focus on a practical approach to identifying breathing noises and patterns of respiration. Clinical case examples will be used to illustrate where select clinical signs localize to the region of the respiratory tract that is affected, followed by a plan for targeted diagnostics and therapeutics.

Learning Objectives

After attending this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Review a comprehensive approach to the feline respiratory history and physical examination.
  • Discuss differentials for common respiratory clinical signs in cats.
  • Understand the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for selected feline respiratory disorders.

Speaker Bios

Carol Reinero

Carol Reinero, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), PhD

Dr. Reinero received her PhD in immunology from the University of California, Davis, and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Dr. Reinero is currently an associate professor and the Director of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory at the University of Missouri.

She has spoken nationally and internationally on respiratory diseases in small animals and has published close to 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In 2013, she was named one of MU’s Top Faculty Achievers, recognized by the Chancellor of the University of Missouri.
