Challenges with Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS)

March 3, 2026, at 8:00 pm ET

by Heidi Lobprise, DVM, DACVD

One of the most frustrating conditions in feline oral health and dental care is feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS). While research is unraveling some of the questions about pathogenesis, and therapy options are expanding, this painful inflammatory disease continues to be challenging. Early (and appropriate) diagnosis often necessitates partial to full mouth extractions in most cases. Even with extractions, refractory inflammation can occur in some patients, and continued management may be necessary. We will discuss updated information about this disease and therapeutic options.

Approaching Feline Conjunctivitis: Is It FHV-1 Or Not, That Is The Question

June 16, 2026, at 8:00 pm ET
by Mary Lucille Walsh, DVM, DACVO

In this session, we will discuss various presentations of feline conjunctivitis and how we can make an appropriate diagnosis. We will review the multiple infectious causes of feline conjunctivitis, with a focus on feline herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1) and antiviral therapy. Some patients will develop long term sequelae as a result of FHV-1, therefore we will also review those presentations and how therapy will differ.

The FelineVMA Round on VIN will dive into this topic of how newer feline drugs on the market may impact anesthesia in our feline patients.
