Speaker Bios
Sheilah Robertson, BVMS (Hons), CertVA, PhD, DACVAA, DECVAA, DACAW, DECAWBM (AWSEL), FRCVS
After graduating from the University of Glasgow Dr Robertson undertook specialized training in anesthesia and pain management. She is board-certified in anesthesia and in animal welfare by the respective American and European Colleges. She holds a certificate in small animal acupuncture and shelter medicine. She is a certified Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Palliative and End-of-Life practitioner. She is the senior medical director of Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, a large network of veterinarians dedicated to end-of-life care. Dr Robertson is also a courtesy Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.
Approach to the Vomiting Cat: Causes, Treatment, & Management
Speaker: Adam Rudinsky, DVM, MS, DACVIM
Do all cats vomit? That is the common misconception amongst many caregivers, as well as some veterinarians. This session starts with a discussion of this topic, reviewing the scope of the problem and how prevalent vomiting is for cats. Following that, the speaker examines the more frequently overlooked causes of vomiting, how they are diagnosed, and how they are treated. This is a large world of differentials well beyond chronic inflammatory enteropathies and small cell lymphoma!
Approach to Diarrhea in Kittens

This session begins with a review of pediatric feline diarrhea management and major roadblocks in addressing this frustrating clinical scenario. The speaker prioritizes fundamental diagnostics and empirical treatments which can be utilized based on current literature and new findings from recent research. A special focus is made on the vast array of infectious diseases and associated diagnostics targeted in early life gastrointestinal disease.

Nutritional support for the critically ill is an important part of nursing hospitalized patients and prompt intervention is crucial to recovery. In this session, you will get a review of helpful nursing techniques for anorexic hospitalized patients. Improving the hospitalization environment to reduce stress, recognizing signs of pain and nausea, in addition to placement and use of enteral feeding tubes are discussed.
Feline Constipation: Update on Acute & Chronic Treatment Modalities

This session features a comprehensive discussion on acute and chronic management strategies for feline constipation. Techniques including the use of polyethylene glycol (PEG 3350) administered at a constant rate infusion via nasoesophageal tube in the acutely obstipated patient are shared. Additionally, you will learn how the use of fiber and diet therapy can help with chronic management and prevention.
Feline Chronic Enteropathy
Speaker: Craig Webb, PhD, DVM, DACVIM
This discussion will focus on a few of the more rare and more recent entries into the recognized group of Feline Chronic Enteropathies, but most of the focus is on inflammatory bowel disease versus low-grade alimentary lymphoma. You will learn what we know about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, as well as what we don’t know.
