2026 FelineVMA Annual Conference
FelineVMA Annual Conference Location Selection Process
The FelineVMA Annual Conference is designed to be a welcoming event for all veterinary professionals to come together to learn, network, and grow. We know the location of the Conference is a factor for many people when deciding whether to attend.
What you might not realize is that selecting a Conference location is a process that begins three or more years before the event itself. Why so early? Securing the right space at popular destinations requires careful planning and negotiation.
We thoroughly evaluate proposals from numerous cities, considering a wide range of factors to ensure the best possible experience for attendees. These include:
- Ease of travel and proximity to an international airport
- Affordability, including hotel room rates and venue costs
- Space requirements to accommodate all sessions and activities
- Appeal of the destination, offering an enjoyable environment for learning and networking
- Balanced geographic distribution to serve our diverse membership
- A welcoming environment for attendees, ensuring comfort and peace of mind throughout the event
Every detail matters because our goal is to create a Conference that is accessible, engaging, and memorable for all participants. The FelineVMA is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive in-person Conference.
After a site is selected, the FelineVMA continues to monitor the location to understand any policies that may have changed since signing the contract, which may be deemed unwelcoming to some or all of our attendees. Hosting an event in a city or state does not imply support for state and local legislation. The FelineVMA also communicates concerns with our hospitality partners at the location, including the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Convention Center, and host hotels.
For the sixth year in a row, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has achieved the highest possible score from the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI). The MEI is based on how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ+ residents and visitors.
The FelineVMA works closely with our event partners to ensure our attendees experience a welcoming and safe environment. All FelineVMA event participants are expected to treat others with respect and follow FelineVMA Annual Conference Policies.
